You know, with all the ripping that goes on, file sharing and stuff I though oh yeah, AC/DC just brought out a new album called Black Ice. Well, no sooner than it hit the shelves Youtube etc has it plastered all over it and people can download for nicks. Certainly artists must have massive reductions in sales. and scroll the RH bar for the rest

Concerts and performances is where the money is at for the artists. The loss that occurs from album sales is mostly felt by the record companies. (Ironically, some of the largest producers of pirating equipment...) Even before music piracy became wide spread, they still made more from performing.... At least that's what I thought. I found a few references that support what I thought, but I'm sure that is a fallacy in itself. http://www.google.com.au/search?hl=en&q=do+musicians+make+more+money+out+of+album+sales+or+concerts&btnG=Google+Search&meta= A feed I often stumble across FileSharingZ focuses purely on the various laws and news related to the 'problem' of distributing copyrighted material. It is bias, but interesting. The highlights are usually best read from TorrentScan... |

Yeah but then how do they get royalties long after the concerts are over? ![]() Yeah lots of bit torrent stuff out there. Just thinking out aloud, like all the kids these days have tons of music for nothing straight off the PC/net. I remember forking out like $12 for an LP, was a big deal when you were an apprentice earning $120/week, these days hardly anyone I know buys a dang thing.

If you've ever had anything to do with America, that's a slur on you too! ![]() Pretty much the entire Australian entertainment market is dictated by US trends, and then rammed down the consumers throat. At least that's how I feel. I don't mind having a bit of national pride when someone does well for themselves, even if I don't really listen to their music. What do you find yourself listening to? |

Not too different from my playlist! Rammstein is a bit of a wildcard though! Haven't heard from them in a while... I remember loving Du Hast. |
