Hmm. Interesting discussion. I just sprayed a yard full of Morning Glory with Roundup 360 mixed at 20ml/L. The place is infested and has been for years, so finding the root balls is half a days work in itself.

While I'm on the subject of Roundup, I got this 20L drum of 360 Biactive for AU$120. What do the rest of you pay?

Morning glory, Wandering Jew etc. I use Grazon Extra (Triclopyr, Picloram and Aminopyralid,) works a treat straight up without having to break the leaf surface like you do with Glyo products.

Ye I know it is. I've been calling it Wandering Dew to customers for years though and no-one has ever noticed. Normally I don't care for PC kinda stuff, but this one annoys me and I've been telling people to call the stuff Wandering Dew for at least a decade. The plant is just so horrible.

Don't worry I'm not going to go on a tirade, it's just one of my personal bug-bears. Everyone has them. Hehe. Like nurseries only selling Boronia when it's in flower - the absolute WORST time to re-site or transplant the poor bloody things... don't get me started on that one...

The stuff yellowed a bit a small amount died but the rest didn't notice I sprayed.
Since starting this post I have been reading up a bit:
1/ method spay, spray then spray again and eventually it will die.
2/ pull it up and cover ground to stop light
3/ Cut or scape stems and apply straight 360g/l glyposate then spray young regrowth.
4/ burn area where it grows with a blow torch
5/ cut a few stems and stick them in a container of straight glyphosate and let then suck it up.
Does anyone have any other methods? What has been successfull?
In my experience Morning Glory is not overly glyho resistant. But 50ml p/l at 360 is waaaaaaaaay too much concentrate & is quite likely why it didn't work. With glyhpo, making it too strong can have the reverse effect to what's intended if its being absorbed through the leaves. I find that MG dies when glypho is applied at the normal rate for soft weeds when the MG is actively growing. I use 8-10ml p/l at 450 strength. As was stated early in the thread; add soil wetter or dish washing liquid to the glypho at the rate posted above for a better result. Because MG stores energy below ground, it will pop up again, but the trick is to poison it every time it shows itself. It will eventually run out of steam & you will win the war.

With Ivy; just add striker to the mix mentioned above & keep at it. Nail it every time it shows itself. You will win!

With figs; have the glypho concentrate ready before you cut the stump cut. Then after you cut the stump cut, cut a groove/grooves down into the stump about 2" with your working corner & immediately pour the glypho into the cut/s. Gravity will do the rest. Never had one come back from that yet.

Not familiar with striker, what company makes it?

I've had a couple of funny bugger customers pull me up on calling it Wandering Jew, asked me if I was anti Jew or something with a chuckle, haha.

Probably the arghh sound to my voice when I've spotted it. But EngRish Ivy as the Japanese call it, is probably my pet hate.

I can't decide between Canary Island Palms, English Ivy or Jasmine as my most hated weed.
