A bridge collapsed in Minneapolis MN, U.S.A. Not sure of what damage or death it has caused but they are blaming it on global worming!!!! UNBELIEVABLE!! Seriously how stupid can people get. That part of the U.S. is generally pretty cold and I guess that they had a few days in th 90's and an offical up there said that the bridge wasnt made to handle those temperatures, (cause steel and concrete just cant handle 90 degrees) Stupid.

Global warming downs the bridge. ![]() I think over here it's the coldest it's ever been for winter, bloody freezing, never had the pipes of the house freeze ever but we did a few weeks ago.

Haha, roast you buggers! Gotta admit the cooler weather is way better for working in, the heat really knocks you around. Another month and the heat will be back on here for 9 months.

I just heard about this today when listening to the Rush Limbaugh radio show. He mentioned that some people are trying to tie global warming to the bridge collapse. Even if the weather was hot, its not an excuse for the collapse, because bridges are not built to handle extremes, they must far exceed extremes. Like on the Oregon coast where its rarely over 85 degrees F., they can't have a bridge that will collapse at 102 degrees F. It would have to be able to handle 150 degrees, if that even mattered. |

Yeah rush talks about it throughout the day and Sean Hannedy talks about it a lot to in the evening. I try and listen to them when they are on no matter what the subject but man, I swear some of these people have to be brainless. They just dont think before they speak, sometimes its hillarious

Key is they were resurfacing. And it was during that exact process that Brisbane had it's bridge shut down causing chaos as a crack appeared. The temperature of the new bitumin could be a contributing factor. Now imagine the chaos in that city with no bridge, absolute chaos I bet. http://www.abc.net.au/news/newsitems...0/s1770194.htm

The news didn't talk about the river much, but I'm guessing that's causing havoc for river traffic. If that happened across the Columbia River here, it would stop barge and ship traffic all the way up into Washington and Idaho.

You know, there will be much speculation for a time to come , personally I'm in no position to say one way or the orthe other. But its a shame that many lost their lives.Bottom line is, I believe, that we as the premier seintient forms of life on this planet like to believe ourselves infallible. The architect relies on the engineer, the engineer relies on numerous others etc. etc....Everyone answers to or relies on someone else. Maybe just maybe, mothernature, fathertime, etc. etc. had other ideas. Same as reading a book or going to school for any facet of tree work, once your up there you bet your knowledge and experience will see you through, but in the end who knows for SURE. Thanks
