mmmm...I'm going to tell you about my experience,I was at my younger brother's place out bush and because we had not seen each other for some time we over indulged with our drinking so I was right royaly pie eyed by the time I went to bed a couple of hours later while I slept I felt something a presence.

I opened my eyes here was this old women looking at me with a look on her face like she was thinking who the hell are you? I reached up to grab this old bag staring at me while I slept and my arm went straight throught her....ole JD ducks straight under the blanket and boots the wife out front to protect me...It scared the dickens out of me!

The next morning while having breakfast with with my brother family and my own I mentioned that I must have been hallouscinating and told them what I saw last night! His wife face said it all and she also has seen this old women and thought the same as me.

Then they start to tell how their daughter has a "friend" she talks to at times and when they go into her room there's no one there but their daughter.

Dr Krissy Wilson recently emigrated from the UK to take up a position as lecturer in psychology at University of Tasmania. She completed her PhD at Goldsmiths, University of London. Her main areas of interest are the psychology of belief, the unreliable nature of eyewitness testimony, false memories and the impact of belief. She has published articles on these topics in psychology and parapsychology journals.

In the UK, Krissy regularly appears on TV and on radio discussing a variety of paranormal subjects and hopes to do much of the same here. At the Hobart Skeptics Convention, Krissy's talk was regarded by many who attended as the Star Turn of the event.

Opinion polls repeatedly remind us that belief in the paranormal is extremely common among the general public and indeed appears to be on the increase. Anomalistic Psychology is the scientific exploration of the psychology of belief and attempts to explain why, despite very little scientific support, so many of us continue to believe in ghosts, mediumship, clairvoyance, and other related psychic phenomena. It would seem that very little evidence is required to convince us that these types of phenomena are real.

This talk will present some examples of how we are all susceptible to self – deception and explore psychological and physiological factors in why people believe in the weird and often not so wonderful. Is there for example, a ‘belief’ personality? Are some of us more prone to believe than others? What can these findings tell us about the human condition? Is it possible that belief might have some adaptive purpose? Dr Wilson will expand on the nature of belief and present some recent findings that suggest that belief itself might have some beneficial properties.

Anyone can see what ever they want,i look at it like this,if you go somewhere and think your gonna see a ghost,guess what your mind will play tricks on you and you'll think you've seen or are in the presence of a ghost.
AS far as i'm concerned theres 2 types of spirits,angels and demons.

Certainly, but it takes people power, strong people who understand it's not personal but necessary.

Many new, modern or re-vitalised churches have woken up to the fact of what their new roles are. The whole God, Devil, Heaven thing is just not cutting it any more.

So new denominations have popped up, and serving the community well.

The Tribe of Judah church here in Logan had people lined up for 100's of feet getting food, these people are very active and doing a great job at the coal face. They have sausage sizzles and feed the people in the streets.

Ekka, you mentioned water divining... I didnt go to the link, because well frankly, I dont really give a damn...

But I thought I'd at least mention; when we built our old house up in lake hughes, we used divining rods to find water for where to drill our well. We drilled in 2 other locations with no go whatsoever, then dad tried the rods in this spot not to far from the other spots and we hit water there after not too long.

Cant be a "magic" thing, has to have science behind it.

That having been said, I actually beleive in the spirit world, as well as space creatures and other dimensional species.

I think of it like wind. You cant take a picture of wind, you cant see wind, but you know its there and you can see the EFFECTS it has, but you cant see it. You can measure it, but if you had to produce SOLID evidence as to its existence, you'd be left empty handed.
But everyone know it exists just the same.

Take that example and stretch it to a sentience which is "unable to be seen" and you can go so much further with it.

Mmmm, not goulies and ghosts and grim reapers...

I suppose it's a more subtle kind of spirit world than that. Not the typical drivel and hype that horror films and scary stories would portray.

Then again, maybe its just the result of too much LSD
