Of course they do. I may be starting to wear glasses (when no one else is around) [and yes, we are just past 40] and I will definitly certify on a stack of MAD magazines that I'm sane but just the other morning I looked out the window and saw one staring back at me, then relised it was the mirror. But seriously, just because you haven't seen one yourself doesn't mean they don't exsist. It's not like people are just going to make it up and have no commercial value to gain from it, like say an egg laying rabbit or jolly fat man that gives kids presents. You just need a little faith, and a very late night and a little acid and.....

Large footprints in the snow have long fueled speculation that a mysterious beast lives in the icy wastelands of East Asia. Now a team of experts is gathering in a remote Russian town to examine the alleged existence of the creature known as the Yeti, promising "surprising findings."

Do Yetis really exist? A number of people are convinced they do. And this week, tales of a seldom-seen humanoid wandering the remote regions of the earth will be the focus of an international conference in the central Siberian town of Tashtagol.

Experts from seven countries will gather in Siberia's Kemerovo province some 3,200 kilometers (1,988 miles) east of Moscow from Oct. 6 - 8 to address the possible existence of the fabled creature. They hope to determine whether the Yeti, also known as the Abominable Snowman, has truly managed to elude curious explorers for centuries, as some speculate, or if the shy being is merely a myth.

Representatives from Russia, the US, China and four other countries plan to share evidence and analyze the infamous creature's biology and living habits. 'Surprising Findings' in Store Although experts are hard-pressed to provide indisputable evidence of the Yeti's existence, the international delegation does intend to present "surprising findings, unique photographs and audio recordings" at the meeting, a spokesperson for the Kemerowo region said.

That particular area of Siberia is no stranger to the legend of the Abominable Snowman. Reported sightings of the beast in a cave 80 kilometers outside of Tashtagol in the past have led local game wardens to install motion-sensitive cameras in the area, although they have yet to document the creature's presence.

Last year, the provincial administration even issued a "Yeti warning," claiming that the devastating fires sweeping across the region were likely to force the reclusive, ape-like beast out of the forests to look for food.

The word "Yeti" originally comes from the Himalayan mountains of Tibet, where strange tracks in the snow have traditionally been attributed to the creature. The reported physical characteristics of the Yeti are similar to those of the legendary North American creature called Bigfoot, also known as Sasquatch. Many alleged sightings of these hairy animals are believed to have been hoaxes.

I saw that, and this one yesterday. Siberia says it has proof of yetis

'They found his footprints, his supposed bed, and various markers with which the yeti marks his territory,' the statement said.

No vodka bottles there I'm sure, but maybe an ulterior motive.

'The region, the administrative centre of Kuznetsk coal basin, has pursued the elusive Yeti for several years as it tries to develop tourism into its mostly industrial economy.'

The yeti really aroused the interest of the people. A while ago, I also read an article connected with this issue, it was an article entitled "Siberian Kemerovo region claims proof of yetis." The yeti is definitely a cryptozoological puzzle, the Siberian equal of Bigfoot. A contingent of researchers invited to Russia has, according to the Russian local government, discovered convincing proof of a yeti. However, while the regional government claims this evidence as an indisputable proof of the yeti, other scientists are not so sure. The coarse hair has not been tested for DNA, and no physical specimen of the yeti has been caught. Therefore, many have been considering that this claim of proof of the Yeti is nothing more than a tourism stunt. What do you think?

not sold that there isnt something humanoid like out there maybe more gorilla like, but im not convinced that there IS something, so i have to poll "no" on this one.

My in-laws used to live in a tiny town called Norwood, Missouri. They will go to their grave swearing a "Bigfoot" like creature destroyed a pumpkin patch in a neighboring property, then wondered through their property....

....Not very conclusive, but they seem certain it wasn't a bear, mountain lion, deer, drunk guy in a gorilla suit, giant ant eater....

I'm saying it's possible

In other threads I have posted certain things I have observed during my passage of life, I have copped flak because I stood by what I posted and till this day I still do not know if it was to much alcohol and my mind was playing games with me or I really did see what I saw.

I have experienced while sitting in a truck the truck seemed to be moving out of my control and I instantly hit the brakes to no avail, the truck kept moving...It was a optical illusion, another truck moving close to me created the right circumstances for this mind trick, my passenger also experienced the same sensation of us having no control of this moving truck. We laughed about it after it happened but at the time it was eerie.

I am a fan of the History channel and I watch many documentaries, one of the programs I watched was about the Werewolf, It turns out they still have the corpse of this dead Werewolf in a museum in France. "Crikey" you might say, "It really did exist" well it did but not as you imagine ! this creature was a tool for a exiled man to re enter society ! as a hero...jeez the worlds full of them ! as it turns out this Werewolf was a long haired hyena trained to kill on demand by this calculating criminal mind. Once it created fear in the people this smart criminal killed this monster...

and he was welcomed home.

This leads me up to the question do you believe in the "Yeti" the Yeti, I do not believe, however I can see calculating people manipulating other peoples fears and beliefs for their own gain, such as tourism and the money it will bring to the area.

Unfortunately I could not reference the program on the Werewolf, but as soon as I can, as the History channel generally repeat sooner or later I will tape it or provide a link for you all to go and have a look.
