In the US we have had Mike Hammer, Philip Marlowe, Guy Noir and others.

Who is the most interesting fictional detective in Australian popular culture?

Bony is the only one I can think of as well, but now we are considered part of Asia maybe we can claim Charlie Chan, I love his Quotes, [Only foolish man waste words when arguement is lost]. His page on Wiki needs work too.
