Default Australian Govt Internet Censorship - getting serious

Read the article, bugger me it's a corker.

iTWire - Leak reveals Internet filtering blacklist open to abuse

And in this article, 2nd paragraph is a link to the secretly banned sites.

http://blog.wired.com/27bstroke6/200...aks-expos.html

They're saying they are going to bust anyone that links to those sites, or links to that Wikileaks page.... so I didn't drop a direct link.

This is bad, real bad. How the hell would you know you are on a secret list? Imagine like the dog boarding kennel place that you're on there and dont know?

From greenies to political correct wankers I wish they'd all go get well fugged and leave people to make their own minds up, there's software programs parents can buy for their kids if need be, but to try to censor the whole country by filtering at the federal level is bad ... it's shit like north Korea would do.

I had a good laugh over the fake twitter account for Conroy, bloody funny, wound that nerd up good, the internet is one of the final places left where people can have their say, now these fascists are trying to fugg it up.

Porn eh, around here there's a sex shop every km, you want to make a big deal out of something ... then ban it and make it special.

Very smart running their show out of Sweden so they're protected from FASCIST SCUM.

iTWire - Wikileaks threatens Conroy with criminal prosecution

Quote:
Wikileaks threatens Conroy with criminal prosecution

Anti-censorship site Wikileaks has threatened Australian Communications Minister Senator Stephen Conroy with criminal prosecution if he attempts to discover the source of its leaked Australian Internet blacklist. Wikileaks says that under Swedish law it is a criminal offence to try to breach confidentiality agreements between the press and sources.

Senator Conroy yesterday issued a statement in response to the release of the Australian Internet censorship list by Wikileaks, saying that his department, "is investigating this matter and is considering a range of possible actions it may take including referral to the Australian Federal Police. Any Australian involved in making this content publicly available would be at serious risk of criminal prosecution."

Describing Senator Conroy as the person "responsible for Australian Internet censorship", Jay Lim, the legal adviser of Wikileaks publisher Sunshine Press stated:

"Under the Swedish Constitution's Press Freedom Act, the right of a confidential press source to anonymity is protected, and criminal penalties apply to anyone acting to breach that right.

"Source documents are received in Sweden and published from Sweden so as to derive maximum benefit from this legal protection.

"Should the Senator or anyone else attempt to discover our source we will refer the matter to the Constitutional Police for prosecution, and if necessary, ask that the Senator and anyone else involved be extradited to face justice for breaching fundamental rights."

Referring to a precedent case earlier this year, Wikileaks stated:

"Senator Conroy may wish to consider the position of the South African Competition Commission, which decided to cancel its own high profile leak investigation in January after being advised of the legal ramifications of interfering with Sunshine Press sources."

Recently I went for a walk in Brisbane main mall, at the Casino end were hundreds of uni-students protesting and handing out leaflets about the matter.

The recent Alcopops tax that Rudd introduced at a whim last year was tossed out and he has to refund to the distillers the $300million collected, what a farce, it should be refunded to the purchasers ... I too paid too much, the local pub used to do 3 cans Jimmy/coke $10, overnight went to $13.

That shows things can change, and should.

I think the Australian public aren't as net savvy as they need to be, and fail to realise the implications of grubby fingers in pies like this.

Slowly the news is spreading and people starting to wake up to the fascist govt antics. Service providers pulling out of the idea.

ISP pulls out of internet filter trial | Australian IT

DBCDE wouldn?t agree to blind filter trial: iiNet - Internet - iTnews Australia

Quote:
"We were right - it's a secret blacklist that you can't talk to anyone about," Dalby said.

"It's a process that concerns us - people working in secret, not accountable to anyone and able to cause havoc by putting stuff on blacklists that the whole ISP community will block.

"Our business generates more than half of all new business leads off our website. It would be terrifying to think our website accidentally got on that blacklist. It would have incalculable impact on our business.

"That poor dentist. If we filter on that list without it being known he's on there, all of a sudden that guy is not getting any business."
It's bad enough with ordinary assholes on the net back stabbing you but to have some idiotic govt at the helm.

Treeworld motto, we cant be beaten contrary to what any banned wanker says.
