Default Australian Football

I got a new HD tv a few weeks ago, and have started getting over the air channels in digital broadcasts. There is a station that plays international news and and other things of international interest. They have been airing Australian rules football, and man am I hooked. That game is incredible. Those guys are out of their minds. It makes soccer and our American football look like games for pansies. I've been learning the rules as I go, and I think I'm catching on, but somethings I still don't get. Give me time, I'll get there. I've only caught 3 games so far (all of the involved Collingwood), but I am checking the listings to make sure I catch as many as possible.

Fast game and lots of scoring.

Many of the rugby fans here call it aerial ping pong. With no off side rule means the field is spread and the ball can travel from one end to the other in no time.

This is the official AFL site
Official Website of the Australian Football League > Season 2007

This wiki has a lot about the rules.
Australian rules football - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

This rule means the action must continue.

Quote:
Opposition players may bump or tackle the player to obtain the ball and, when tackled, the player must dispose of the ball cleanly or risk being penalised for holding the ball.
And coming from AFL background you'd understand why I dont like rugby coz hanging on the ball and having a 10 man pile on is just time wasting.

If you get a chance also watch Rugby League which is the Australian version of rugby. It to is a lot cleaner faster game than the traditional rugby.

I would watch AFL if they'd put the good bits of Gaelic football back in, and make it a bit rougher.
