Hey all! Sorry I haven't been around lately. Been on the road the last 10 weeks or so. All over the USA. Anyway, I wanted to see if anyone on TW is into Geocaching. What is Geocaching you ask? Well, think of it as a worldwide scavenger hunt put together by other geocachers. You use a GPS and the Geocaching website, Geocaching - The Official Global GPS Cache Hunt Site to find the location, then you use the description and clues to find the "cache" which may contain a trinket or 2 left by others, and a log for you to sign. It's actually quite fun and gets me out of the hotel in the morning and walking around towns where I've never been before. If you go to the geocaching website type in your home address and see if there's any around your home or office. After looking for and finding your first, you get hooked easy! SP

Yeah! I actually did this a couple times when I lived up in Lake Hughes. It was alot of fun. The other project that I found exciting using GPS's is...ack... I forgot what it's called but basically if you live anywhere nearby where a major Lattitude line crosses a major Longitude line, you find the exact spot and take a picture, then post it on the site. Its something about "Convergence". I posted the first underwater picture. Just off the coast, we found the convergence by gps, dropped anchor, then I went down by scuba and took pictures. It hadn't been done before that, only the land-based ones. Geo-caching is niffty though, I'd suggest anyone else who's interested in it to give it a try. |

I've signed a few logs, (something about using the word log after EKKA's comment make me laugh) in NM. That's old school...this gps stuff sounds interesting.
