Sad story, in this town you are allowed to euthanize your animals providing it's done humanely. These two clowns didn't get the $10K reward for dobbing themselves in though, thankfully. Local News | 2 men who tied dog to tree and shot it are charged | Seattle Times Newspaper Quote:

The worst incident that I have ever Witnessed, is some guy dropping off a dog on the side of the road, to fend for itself. I live in a kind of heavy wooded area, with about 80 acres of bush on both sides of the Road. One March Day, I was helping a Neighbour haul out his Fire Wood, that he had cut out of the Bush, not too far from the Road, when I seen a Van drive off with high speed. I looked up while climbing onto the Tractor, when I noticed a Dog running down the Road after the Van. I tried to call the Dog, but it ran away. That night the Wind Changed, and dropped to 28 Degrees C, one of the coldest night we had all winter. We have had a lot of dogs dropped off in this stretch of road, and they always seem to come in to our Buildings. We try and see if some one has lost a Dog, and advertise it Found on the Radio. After about 2 Days, when there has never been a Response, we would have to take the Dog into the Bush, and put it down. We always used the Shot Gun for this, fully Loaded with three rounds in the Gun, with #2 Shot or bigger, because we don't want the dog to suffer anymore than it has already. We would tie it up to a Tree, get it to look away, and try our best to hit the Dog behind the Ear, that way the Shot would penatrate quickly into the Brain. We accomplish this with just one Shot, but always have the two extra in the Gun, just in case we don't do a good Job with the first one, then we Bury it in the Bush. I always hated the People who dropped off the Dog, thinking that some one would take it in, but not realizing that people in the Country already have a Dog, and do not want another, and have to Shoot the Dog, when they could have taken it to a Vet Clinic, to see if some one could Adopt it. Sad story indeed. Bruce.
