Arrow Power Ascender makes canopy access a breeze - no sweat | power ascender

Actsafe in Sweden make the patented rope-ascender Odysse - PME commonly called the power ascender.

power ascender

Undoubtedly the ascent of trees is tiring and strenuous. Whilst there's a myriad of mechanical devices they all require physical effort, this is where the Power Ascender stands out. Used on a single kernmantel static rope of between 10.50mm and 13mm diameter you power your way up.

ascending with power ascenderThe user has full control over the speed from 0 to 22 meters per min. Imagine that, the world's tallest tree ascended in around 5 minutes without any physical effort, providing of course the rope was set at the top of the tree.

The Power Ascender Safe Working Load is 300 kg, more than ample for the even the largest tree climbing arborists fitted out with all the gear.

In this word document is a list of dealers. If you do not have a dealer in your country you may purchase the Actsafe Odysse - PME Power Ascender directly by clicking here, it is priced at 2924 EUR plus freight to your address. At time of this publication the unit is not available for sale in US and Canada (insurance does not cover it).

Ace uses one of these and so do the McMahon fellas. They can also use it to haul gear up like heavy lowering ropes, saws etc.

Thing is, you get to your work point fresh not busted.

I'm a bit skeptical. Besides, like it mentioned, you have to secure the rope to the top of the tree first. Maybe I'm just used to my ascenders, but I can go up 140' and not be "winded" when I get there.

Would be nice to toy with if I had $2K lyin around I suppose

Not available for sale to USA so keep using ya ascenders.

Psssst, to use you ascenders the rope still has to be secured to the top of the tree first.

Have you seen video of how easy it is and how the McMahons fire a bag 200' plus into the canopy of some huge gum?

They have 2 big shots mounted together, crank it up with a prussik release mechanism, aim and fire. They use a roll of bailing twine so if the shot sucks just cut it off and go again.

Check out the video on this link Bond Treeclimbing Stunt

I can just see a couple of rednecks sittin around in there garage and drinkin beer, thinkin about how to work as little as possible, and coming up with something like that!

Wouldn't keep me from thinking about making one though, like Newguy.

You build it, I'll test it.

But If it's okay with you, I'll call over a climber friend to belay me with a seperate top-rope. Just give me 10% and we'll call it even.

Or you could find a drunk mexican. He might do it for a six pack or something.

The laws of physics what goes up must come down! I dont think I'd want this device running out of juice on a accent or if it was capable decent, What happens when this happens does the gearing and the friction keep stationary? Imagine yelling down to your groundie from 60' petrol......petrol... flap your arm....and he's goin....what I cant hear ya..LOL

Yes all stays stationary and you have to stop to hop off it anyway. In GM's video you'll see he rides with an ascender back up.

Ace guys also use one.
