|  The Effects of Excessive Drilling on Wood Decay in Trees by Mattheck and Weber Ah, one of my favourites.  Page 36 says it all. Even the toughest anti drilling tree hugger will certainly put an eye bolt into a tree to save it but a needle .... oooohhhh  So, this helps dispel some myths, and I bet it still opens a can of worms.
