Dr. Micheal Rhupp, Has been writing and speaking about this problem for a few years now. I listend in terror at the 2007 Municipal arborist convention in Hollywood Florida.
Thanks Don Goulding.

It appears the problem is far worse than what is presently being stated. We also have emerald ash borrer up north and in the south here in Florida it is the pest of the month club.

The asian Longhorned beetle is a devistating insect that has had a few good years to establish a good population with no preditors and great weather. The say Merit (Immediclopred) is the systemic insecticide to use. Be carefull not to use it near trees that will be used for a food source like Maple. or fruit trees.
There is a Hemlock Adelgids (another horendus insect) Lots of Scientists up in the top of trees these days. Yea!

We use it to fight the white fly that is killing ficus trees like there is no tommorrow. Benjamina hedges stand like skelletons of what were great privacy barriers now look like brown chain link.

We should be applying homeland security money to the pest problem that is being brought into the U.S.

There are great magazines Arbor Age, Tree Service, The International Society of Arboriculture has two one very technical and the other for us tree climbers. Arborist News (great, They are both great) Membership is worth the few bucks each year Our local chapter has great seminars althogh they are expensive. It is tough to take 3 or four guys at 145.00 each

I don't se very many ash trees around here,is eab more down south?Same with white fly, never heard a mention of it before around here.I have removed several slash pines that had severe beetling, removed one yesterday as a matter of fact, which tells me if it spreads quick enough half the trees in live oak are pretty much screwed. Thanks for your time.
