Arrow Anti-transpirants| antidesiccants| reducing moisture loss

This thread is designed to gather information about anti-transpirants and their effectiveness.

Antitranspirants are used to prevent moisture loss, used for drought stressed trees and can be used when transplanting trees. There may be many types and application methods from drenches to sprays.

Abscisic acid (know as ABA):-

Quote:
Abscisic acid is also produced in the roots in response to decreased soil water potential and other situations in which the plant may be under stress. ABA then translocates to the leaves, where it rapidly alters the osmotic potential of stomatal guard cells, causing them to shrink and stomata to close. The ABA-induced stomatal closure reduces transpiration, thus preventing further water loss from the leaves in times of low water availability.
In addition if there is any other treatments that reduce transpiration add them here.

Also, we need evidence these things work so PDF's required, when adding PDF's please do read them first and make sure they are relevant and not too old .... I found some from 1960. Also please write a brief summary, or copy the conclusion so readers have an idea what's inside.

I've kicked off with a PDF from test in 1986 below (Cornell University).
