This is a new tree, planted last year. There were leaves when we planted in the Autumn of 2010, but now it looks like this. The internet , in all it's wonder, points me to Fireblight, but as I have no experience of this problem, I have no idea whether it is or not. Any help would be appreciated |

Fireblight gives the impression of having been in a fire - blackened bark -- highly infectious.. Since it was planted (and purchased)?) fall 2010 - the nursery may still consider it under warranty -- I would return it for new varieties. If not under warranty, get rid of the trees immediately and try to ascertain where the disease came from before planting more susceptible species. What species of trees are these?
