Default white gum

i have a problem with a white gum on the next doors nature strip i have asked the council to do some work on it which they did. I get all the leaves and branches in my front back yard and driveway. The council will not cut it down because they say it is a healthy tree. Can you tell me if it is notorious for falling and dropping large branches in storms and drought conditions. this tree is on a busy street with children walking to and from school and the elderly walking for exercise. What i would like to know is how i can go about getting it cut down for safety reasons and to stop the problem covering my yard and driveway. There is also falling bark of up to 1 metre long and branches also falling out of it. It covers the road with leaves and branches. I have told the council it is a safety issue, heaps of people walking past say it is a dangerous tree. please can you help me
thanks david

Has it dropped branches previously?

As far as general tree litter goes, that's life. Not many will entertain your inconvenience as a valid argument, perhaps if you were disabled, had to wheel a chair or frame with government carers attending to your needs you could plead a case, but other than pleading sounds to me there's little more you can do.

You could engage a consulting arborist to argue with council but in reality there's many methods of mitigation to be considered prior to removal of the tree.

If it's that bad that it's affecting your life, you could also move I suppose to where there's no trees.

You know, just today I spoke with a man who was considering buying a 400m2 house block, that's real small. It had a 0.9m DBH gum tree on it the council said must stay and be protected, right in the middle of the block but 5m back from the road. So the man being net savvy found my online calculator and punched in the numbers .... came back with 366m2 of tree protection zone. do you think he'll buy the block?

We have to play the cards that others force upon us.

The council also thought they saved this healthy tree.
