I have attached a few pictures of a Blue Spruce branch. It was taken from a tree in an urban yard in Alberta, Canada. Does anyone know what might be wrong with this tree?

A man walked into a hospital holding just an arm from another man, it had been severed, appeared blue in color with black finger nail tips. What was wrong with the man the arm came from? ......... Can you see the problem with your presentation?

Is there anything wrong in those pics? Forgive me, but the samples look quite healthy.

First, yes the trees are looking very healthy with the exception of the blotchy discolouration on the one side of the trees. Another reason I am a little confused. I have never seen this before. I have a few hunches (i.e. rust, wind or sun burn, etc) but was wondering if anyone has any ideas so that I can look into it a little further. Just so you are aware, the discolouration is NOT uniform and does go up and down the tree but is concentrated moreso on the thickest part of the tree at the bottom. It is on the South / south-east facing side of the trees. Second, I don't think there is anything wrong with my presentation. The point is that I don't know and am looking for professional advice / suggestions / and experience. If I was to post a picture of a 'common' tree problem would you tell me my presentation was poor again or would you simply tell me "that looks like such n such"?! I am merely showing you what I have to work with as I don't know the answer and am asking you for your professional opinion. If you have questions, then ask. I thought the point of this forum was to get advice from professionals...professionals have experience which can lead me to figuring out what may be wrong with these trees. If you don't know or don't care, that's fine, but if you are interested in helping then ask the questions you need to. I don't want to waste your precious time but, call me crazy, I thought that was the point of this forum...to get help. |

In future provide all pieces of the puzzle. For what it's worth I say it could be winter injury but here's a page on many types of injuries with pictures. Source:U of M Gardening Information: What's wrong with my plant?

Thanks! This looks a lot like what I am dealing with. I will investigate further. See, this is what I am talking about .. your experience and input helps me to move forward. Again, thank you very much!! And I don't mean any disrespect, but if I had all the pieces of the puzzle, I would need the help. In the future, I will provide more info. I admit my first post will a little vague. Have a great weekend everyone!! |
