Default What's that smell?

I think I have made a discovery about a tree that is undocumented.
Many of us know the various aromas of various woods, such as oak, sassafras, birch, virburnum and so forth. And it is also known that crushed white fir needles have the odor of tangerines. Recently, while collecting winter twigs for wood ID, I discovered that a fresh cut twig from the tupelo tree smells exactly like the crushed needles of white fir. Can not find any mention of this anywhere.
