Hello Tree World, thank you for allowing me onto your site. I live in the Tampa, FL area and I am having a problem with one of the Oaks in my yard and thought that maybe someone might have some ideas about what may be going on with it. I am not sure of the age of the tree, however I have been in our home for 14 yrs and it was a mature tree at that time. What it is doing is dropping green limbs/branches. They can be up to 10ft long, 3 to 4 inches in circumference. They are live limbs, green and they do have acorns on them. Do you have any idea what might be going on with this tree? I have 4 other oaks in my yard and none of the others are having this problem. At first, I thought that it may have been due to weather, however there has been no real weather issues and little rain or winds. Please advise if you have any ideas what might be going on with this tree. PS-There are no visible bugs or insects that I can see either. Thanks for any help! Linda

sorry, but we need pictures. can't say anything without seeing the trees and knowing WHAT TYPE of oak they are. if you can't get pics, carefully inspect the area of the break and the crotch of the broken limbs (where they meet the trunk). it's rare that green branches just fall off unless they have previous damage. i'm sure they do and you missed it on your initial inspection. |
