Question Unknown Tree

I had to fell a tree today, and I had never thought much of what type it was until I looked at the bark and leaves. It was a small tree, growing about 4.5-5 ft a year (about 20 ft when I felled it). The area this tree was growing in was mostly shaded, and it the area where most of the water run-off collects when it rains, so the area is extremely moist. The leaves are smooth and leathery, with pinnate veins. Any help with the identification of this tree would be very much appreciated! Thanks in advance.

It might be a species of Cherry (Prunus) but 5 feet a year is quite unusual.

Looks like an Evergreen Alder, [Alnus acuminata] to me.

Alder would make a lot more sense with the site and growth. Evergreen alder is not a species I am familiar with,

After quite a bit of searching, I have found out that it is a Wild Black Cherry/ Rum Cherry tree. Thanks for the help!
