Default Ulmus glabra 'Lutescens'

hay there, Just a question about my Golden elm. The sap wood is sort of rapping around on its self like rams horns in big sections up the trunk and branches exposing the heartwood does any 1 no whats going on with it?

If sapwood is wrapping around something, it sounds like an injury, and the tree is attempting to seal the wound. Need pics to form an opinion.
