Default Tulip Tree Looks Worse

I asked about this tree under tree chat and responded under Tulip tree looks
bad. We are planning to have it cut down as it is sitting on a slope between
powerlines that go across our property (4 fee away) and our house.

Would like to know if the black markings, breaking are something I should be worried about in trees nearby (that as of yet are not as bad as the one in
photos). What do those black blemishes mean (or whatever they are called)
what causes that to happen.

Thanks for your feedback!!

Its kinda hard to tell, a suspect may be woodpecker damage.. As your getting quote to remove perhaps the local tree blokes will/should know more.
Trees under stress respond in many ways. Some visible indicators maybe bark splits sap flow with harmful feeding damage by insect or animal.

By the way Maggie Valley NC, family loss we have inherited a house and acre land in Skyways drive. All is ok, its 4 sale and no issues to care about just saw the address so sayin giday, a neighbor from down under.

Nope not coming over, a tad far for a weekender or second home, sell it rent it nay no trouble for a while.

The bottom decay looks the result of mechanical damage - like a lawnmower. THe block blotches -- need a closeup to have a better idea.
