Tulip poplar tree needs help-p1010602.jpg

Tulip poplar tree needs help-p1010608.jpgI live in NW Alabama and I just noticed my tulip poplar (I think it was planted approx. 3 yrs. ago) is dying. One branch is already dead and others are black; it almost looks like they have been burnt. The tree does have buds on it. Last summer/fall we did have a drought, then this winter we had one of the snowiest winter in 20 yrs, I don't know if this could have anything to do with it. I don’t really know anything about trees, so any help would be appreciated. I will try to post some pics so you can see.
