Default Tropical poolside palms/gingers

Hi there, I'm hoping to get advice on palms/gingers to plant around the pool. It is a raised garden bed, only approx 1m wide, and 1m from pool edge. Living in Cairns, I'm after tropical palm/ginger look so i don't have to prune, but obviously don't want massive trees. Ruled out Foxtails etc, looking at planting Macarthurii Palm, smaller versions of Bird of Paradise, and ornamental gingers. I just brought a Srelitzia Nicolai, but after realising how big it gets, I think i'm staying away from that. Any advice?

Cascade palms (these only grow 1.5m tall), cordylines, crotons, could also go with that.

Most palms will grow too tall, you really do not want more than 5m height so stick with Macarthurii and perhaps Golden Cane.

I have had an Alexander Palm (Archontophoenix alexandrae) within 1 metre of my family's pool for the past 10 years with no problems as of yet. Pool is in-ground concrete and is in reactive clay soil.

Thanks, yes I was thinking of Cascade Palm. I like the look of Raphis too, but seems to get to big, so may keep that in a pot.

Rhapis palms grow best in shade - they go yellow in full sun.
