During a recent snow storm a very large branch broke off from what I think to be an Eastern White Pine. The tree is about 30 feet from my house but lies on home owner's association property. When the branch broke off, it left a gaping "hole" going back into the tree trunk about ten inches. (See attached pic below) The branch used be about 8-9 feet from the bottom of the tree. My concern is that the tree has been structurally weakened and will either die or completely fall over in high winds. Can anyone provide any insight as to whether the tree 1) is safe from not falling over and 2) will tree be able to heal itself or will fungus and insects infest the tree before it can completely heal? Thanks for the input. |

I suggest you hire a suitably qualified arborist to make an assessment and recommendations, it is unreasonable to meet the type of request asked based on the limited amount of information we have, including one picture. ![]() No arborist will ever give and guarantees or warrantees of any kind such as you are requesting.
