I planted an Eastern Redbud that I bought from Lowes and the leaves seem to be rusting. I dont know what to do. I have been following the watering directs attached to the tree. Is it diseased or just dying? Please Help! Thanks, Stephanie ![]() |

Hi Stephanie, without some pictures of the problem with your tree, it's impossible to make a diagnosis. Post some closeups of the leaves without the flash on, also of the general tree. It could well be a fungal infection or something else, pictures of clear quality will help. Try placing the detached leaves on a background so that they are more defined. regards Julie |

Rust fungi are a huge family and attack a wide variety of plants. Copper based fungicides will stop the spread but won't cure the blemishes already present. Good air circulation around the plant and proper watering which allows the plant to dry between watering is important. And yes, pictures do help........ |

Pictures are not conclusive. A variety of things can cause this kind of leaf burning. Lawn fertilizer, lawn fertilizer with herbicide (weed & feed), anthracnose, bacterial leaf scorch, etc. |

I agree with Tree Specialist. Pics are not conclusive -- looks mostly like scorch or pollution damage. The less affected leaves also look drier than normal, rust is usually found on healthier leaves.
