Hi everyone, I once (in the beginning) requested some assistance/opinions about my tree climbing "wish" and my physical conditions, particularly my weight that seem to go all in my gut, like a beer gut when I don't drink, even water is a rarety (plenty of coffee tough...! ) but I didn't get any replies, as far as I know so, here we go again...!My specific question at this moment is, what is the easiest set-up/way to climb a tree from the ground up using a rope...! what I mean with the "easiest" is using both arms and legs to facilitate the climb...! (to get that gig gut, up...! )I have considered and tried a few methods, one that I put most of my efforts and attention was the system/method this guy on my attached YouTube video link uses. I purchased what I needed to complete the set-up he uses but, I can seem to make it work for me, particularly with the upper body part of the systems as I can use my arms hands to assist my legs, in a way that I can stand up-right, therefore, making it extremely difficult to go up. Thanks Eric, I truly deserved that...! I should have said that, I'm well aware of the motorized ascendor's and that I totally agree with you as the easiest way to climb a tree in a rope but, in my dreams I may be able to afford one of them as in the real world, ain't got a chance...! In fact, if I was doing tree climbing as a living, I would certainly consider such excellent piece of equipment, after all, the less energy you use getting to the work place (tree tops) the better and safer you are...! I did also search for those Mar Bar systems everywhere and I got the same answer every time, "no longer available and none in stock...!" ![]() I may have to make one up, now that I tried the SRT system and I found it very difficult...! I have thought, already made a contraption (jig) using the rope grabber I got for the lanyard I made out of 16mm rope. I got if finished and painted, ready for testing and the idea/shape is identical to the top part of the Mar Bar, using the bottom system of the video I shown before. I also did like your idea of walking the tree from you video, in fact, and according to what you said on it, you are 100kg and I'm 117...! Body stature is identical, just the gut poking out is "slightly" larger then yours...! very generous here...!![]() I knew, you weren't a skinny bloke, from the way you started your reply to my OP so, now that I saw your video, I know you understand the weight issue...! ![]() What, too much of this ![]() ![]() ...???Cheers George |
