A friend ask me for transplant info for Leyland Cypress. Is it best done in spring or fall or does it matter? The plants are 8 feet tall now and three feet apart. His goal is to thin them out(every other one) and start a new screen on another side of his property. Any help is appreciated. Paul |

plant late winter early spring for best results but they are fairly hardy. leylandii are a tall tree 30meters at times and grow at 1 meter per year. they dry out the soil and lock in the nutrients by turning it acidic, are you sure they are what you want as a screen. plant them in the places you want them to grow as once they brown off where the other trees are touching them they never recover. hope this helps g
