Hi all, I know there are several links saying that these trees don't do well in Sydney. I wondered if there is anyone out there who can contradict this to the extent that makes it possible to put one in and not "expect miracles". I have a friend who lives in metropolitan Sydney with 2 in her garden and they look very nice. I would like to remove a medium sized robinia (sorry if that isn't correctly spelled) and replace it with an advanced birch...if I can buy one. Cheers Judy |

Here in melbourne they have struggled with drought stress, most mature specimens are in decline. Younger trees have the vigor to still be doing ok. If you really want one, be sure you have ample water (tanks if needed) and an adequate area available for the root zone to develop under a blanket of mulch. |
