Default Sea Grape Dying w/ new gravel driveway

I have a Sea Grape tree in prime location for a shady spot in my driveway. Originally the parking spot under the tree was mulch before we bought our house, but we switched over to white rock gravel for a cleaner lasting look this past Fall.

I thought the leaves were just browning as they do every year during that time but now it's April and numerous other sea grape trees in the neighborhood are flourishing while mine looks like it's in autumn up north.

Any ideas on how to figure out what's going on? My soil is basically all sand throughout the yard if that matters.

Without photos, and from what you say happened recently, it sounds like shock. How heavy was the equipment, new enviornment, ect.

When the wife gets home I'll have her find the charger for the camera.

There was no equipment used or anything. I was just googling for answers to this problem myself to no avail. Most sites said the Florida Sea Grape was an almost indestructible plant with a high salt and crappy soil tolerance. I'll post up some pictures tonight and hopefully somebody can tell me whether it's being poisoned or just shock.

Thanks

I suspect that you bought gravel that was treated with soil sterilant. Check with the supplier, and let us know what you find out!

Good call TD...
Over here in Bermuda a lot of the seagrapes (we call 'em baygrapes) are slow in dropping their leaves this spring...

As for the gravel...how are you going to manage the leaf drop and fruit cleanup?
