Hi all, I'm new here and have a sickly brand new tree (one of two) that came with my newly built subdivision house. I've been here about 3 weeks and I'm not sure what kind of trees these are but all of the houses in the neighborhood have the same two standard trees. They're about 10 feet tall and while one of them is healthy and green, the other is sad with brown leaves all over. I've watered them equally though I'm sure it hasn't been enough. We've had some fairly severe watering restrictions and I don't think that my 2 days a week/10-15 mins a day plan is doing the trick. I've included the only picture that I have handy showing leaves from the two separate trees. The brown one has some tiny branches that snap off easily though the majority of the branches that I've yanked on don't seem to want to come off. Does anyone have any advice at this stage? Thank you all in advance! |

The tree likely has withered and died from lack of water. Add a wetting agent to the water, also add some soil conditioner like fish emulsion or seaweed extract. Water the base fo the tree, deep water, a watering can is better than a sprinkler. Often it's good to water where the two soils meet, the soil the tree came in and the soil of the site. Mulch underneath but not to the stem of the tree (leave 6" gap). Lets see some pics of the trees in the ground.
