Question Quick question about an unknown Oak?

Hi guys im Eric and live in south TX. I moved into a house about 1 1/2 year ago, it had a great looking Oak about 10 years old maybe in front. Last year we pruned the lower branches. When the tree began to get its leaves back in this year, they came in slowly and were very sparse. It wasnt full and lush like the year before, quite bare. Two months ago the leaves began to dye and turn brown all over the tree. I should mention that about 6 months ago we had a huge storm and the tree began to pull out of the ground on one side before a neighbor and I were able to stake it down. So about a month ago as the leaves are dying, I notice the bark at the base of the trunk seems to be pulling and splitting a bit from the tree. I took a better look today and pulled some bark away from the tree and found tons of ants burrowing in and out of little holes in the tree. Im a first time home owner and know nothing about trees... Is it too late? Sorry for not having pics it was getting dark when I was outside. Ill get pics up tomorrow. Btw.. some limbs seem dead others seem plyable still, with a "few" green leaves on the entire tree.

Sounds bad and too late, if not dead will be soon.

Time to replant I'd say.
