Default Question from the FNG

Hey all, I'm currently studying for the ISA Cert which is great for "Book learning". Unfortunately the only climbing or high work I have experience in is rigging for entertainment. Usually walking the rafters or beams/grid in a showroom or on set. All this is accessed from catwalks or stairs, so I have no real climbing experience, tho I've rappelled a couple times but never have been formally taught.
I have spoken with Genevive, the owner of this site.

Dancing With Trees - genevieve summers - recreational tree climbing guide and instructor - parties to treetop camping & adventure expeditions

Is something like this worthwhile since it specializes in trees? I don't plan on rock climbing or anything like that.

Very worthwhile, more worthwhile than trying on your own with no experience.

More worthwhile than learning bad habits from old schoolers.

Yep, if ya cant buddy up with a 1 on 1 with a good arbo then go rec climbing.

Then search out a good company nearby and go watch the rigging side on a decent job.

Dont forget the video section here, lots of tips.

Thanks Ekka, damn I wish I had known about this site 6 months ago, I hung out in Brisbane for a week on holiday before a show we did in Surfer's Paradise (Professional Bull Riders World Finals). Would have loved to see how it's done down there. Though I did spend most of my time in the Roma Street Parklands. What a place!!

The other 2 folks are my buddy Lance and his wife Ramona, we had lunch at Chutney Marys across from the park. Damn that was a good day.
