Default Profusion Crabapple Tree Dying??

I purchased a Profusion Crabapple tree (which I was told does not bear fruit) about 3 weeks ago. We planted it and about a week later it bloomed beatifully. It now looks as though it is dying, the flowers have all wilted and turned brown or fallen off. The leaves look sickly also. We are first time home owners and dont have much experience in the planting department. My mother purchased some compost for us to mix with the dirt and we didn't know that we were not suppose to use all of it. She says we may have "burned" the tree. I have been watering it and it is planted where it gets lots of sun. It has gotten pretty cold here the last couple of weeks and we have had some wind and rain storms. Please look at the attached photos and tell me what you think (I have attached photos of the tree now and what it looked like after I first planted it), I do not want this tree to die.

The foliage that is browning, is it crisp like a dead tree or is it soft?

With plenty of water around and it is crisp then likely burned with compost on roots in the hole, if soft then likely it's being drowned in the hole.

If it's only been in the hole 3 weeks then you should be able to get a spade and lift it out carefully from under the root ball. Lie it down and lightly brush off soil back to the root ball. Clear out the hole of compost, add new soil, no fertilizer or compost!

Check the hole is not a water bog.

Myth soil amendments

The flowers are crisp but the leaves are not yet, they are still soft but look do not feel as soft as they should.

Thank you!
