Default problem with a weeping higgin cherry

Hi, I have a weeping higgin cherry planted in my yard for about 3 years,
it seemed to do fine untill I noticed at the end of last year some splits up the trunk with sap dripping out. it did bloom but it had some dead branches and just is'nt looking so good.
Can you please help with this.
Thank you
Chris O'
