so i purchased two Cleveland Select pear trees on end of season discount, they seem healthy but the thing that worried me was the top inch or so of roots was exposed and dry from the soil falling out of the pots, i added more soil to the pots and watered them well, my other worry is what are the chances one them coming back next year, the buds on them seem firm and seem to have formed alright. i have a one year guarantee on them. any ideas or suggestions? Thanks.

Plant them and then apply plenty of TLC, judging from the pictures they look alright. When planting take into consideration the size of the tree at maturity.
