Default possible canker on red plum tree

This spring i bought a Santa Rosa Red Plum. at the store it had a plastic sleeve on it up to the first branch saying "fruit" on it. after i got it home and planted it i removed the plastic sleeve and noticed that one side had what looked like wound wood and the other side did too, but i'm wondering if it is a canker. and the nice healthy sucker growing at the base has me worried too thinking it is producing the sucker cause the tree is dieing, although the top seems healthy and is growing. the last picture of the leaves, they are not really that yellow, just a real bright green

Might have had a branch broken off sometime during its time at the nursery. People walking past, staff not being careful, etc.

Look like branch was ripped down or something.

I reckon it'll be OK.

Get a brush and paint copper based fungicide on it locally.

Do that until it seals over.

Thanks for the advise, i'm glad it is just damaged and not a canker, also i should prune off the suckers right?

Yeah, use secateurs and cut as close to the base as you can.
