Default Plum tree thinning

I have attached picture of a plum tree. The tree is 9yo and started to noticeably thin in the middle (main) section. I've attached a picture. Does anyone have suggestion as to how I can strengthen the tree so that it'll survive? Thanks for suggestions/advice.

Afternoon, then mulch, take out any deadwood or crossover branches.
Before thinning &/or reducing any further, check to see if your tree fruits on second year old wood; as you will to schedule your pruning accordingly. STAV
