Hi, I just moved to a new house with lots of trees. I have on in particular that I really like but it is dying off. I've observed a couple of things. One it has a greenish fungus growing on the trunk and limbs and a gel like goo coming out of the main trunk. I'll try to include a few pics as I'm not sure of the what kind of tree it is and pics of the problem. Any help any one can give me would be very much appreciated. ![]() Picture of the whole tree ![]() Picture of the leaves to id what kind it is ![]() Picture of the problem area...I think Again if anyone can give me some advise on what type of tree it is and how I can save it I'd be very thankful. |

these are dime a dozen trees. thundercloud plumb is a common variety. this trees is mature and in my opinion is not worth trying to do much with. planting a new tree (single stemmed). the lechins growing on the tree cause no damage to the tree. the gummy material usually comes out of wounds. more pictures of the trunk at ground level would help.

Call a local arborist first. By the looks of it the tree has been around awhile. Wood/leaf chips are beneficial in more ways than most folks know. Last edited by Knotahippie; 27th August 2008 at 03:09 PM. Reason: too much |
