Hi there, does anyone know if this type of palms root system will damage buildings foundations? It just came to my attention that a few of these type of palm are planted close to the side of my flat . I'm not sure what type they are and I have no knowledge about palms or palm root systems ... love some help on this, cheers ![]() Thanks |

what sort of a F#*!wit would plant that there? ![]() I doubt it will bugger the foundations unless it's clay and you get subsidence. But the palm needs more room. They get big!

that pic doesn't do it justice mallakoff they get 1m wide easily and 8-10 meters high and they are spike ridden menaces that cause you infections for days after trimming them gggrrrggrgrgrgrgrrrr how ever they look great when pineappled

Damn they do get big, these are planted all along the St Kilda foreshore where I live. Some previous owner or garden maintenance guy must have thought they looked nice and planted them...insane Thanks for the help Cheers | |

Thanks for the reply Ted, I hadn't thought about what would happen if a storm blew it down. I have contacted the Bodycorprate at my block of flats and we're gonna pull them out. Thanks to all who replied, this problem is now solved. |
