I have an October Glory maple tree that we planted two and a half years ago. Unlike the other maples (emerald green and sunset) in our yard, this one has shown no sign of flowering or budding leaves. I can't find any visible signs that there is anything wrong with the tree other than no signs of growth. We had a fairly dry summer last year so we religiously watered all of our newer trees. This was the tree we were least worried about last year because it looked the healthiest! I would appreciate any advice in how to determine if the tree is dead or if there is still some hope for it. Thanks! |

try bending some of the smaller branches, if they bend then they are still green and alive, if they break or are dry then they are dead, also take your fingernail and scrape a small piece of bark, the wood underneath should be green.
