I have a Norfolk Pine with some large exposed surface roots. Can these be cut back without killing the tree? They are in a position that i would like to put in a driveway. |

Negative. Read AS4970, this is a link to the draft where a little has changed, the TPZ is 12 x DBH not 9 X DBH. This is an online calculator where you can work out the TPZ and SRZ. Online Calculator for TPZs and SRZs as per AS4970-2009

I would be very careful about cutting the roots. Definately get a suitably qualified person to check it out. It would help to know how big the tree i s and how many roots you were planning on removing.
