Default Negotiating with Woodcutters

I have a HUGE beech tree that will fall down some day and there is enough wood in it to last me for many years.
It will be too much for me working single handed, but there are some folks with a firewood business about a mile down the road.
It makes sense to me that when the time comes to offer them a deal, where they can have the tree for giving me a share, in manageable sized chunks that I can split later.
I don't know if this is done or what the customary percentages might be and I'd welcome any thoughts on the issue.

Jusdt get quotes asking for some wood to stay behind for you to recut and split. Often we leave larger branches and trunk as some customers want the wood, sometimes we leave the seperate price for cutting it up into 1' long pieces too.

I agree with the answer to have removal company leave just enough wood that you will actually use. Do not expect a removal company to take wood in exchange for the removal cost. Firewood is only a sideline business and barely generates a profit after the wood has been handled so many times before a payout. Make sure they have insurance ( liability and workmans comp.) Carson
