I have about a 15 year old mountain ash tree in my back yard. It did well all summer then suddenly the leaves started curling and small branches falling off. What is my problem

Hi Donna, Some pictures would help first. Also, there are a number of species that get reffered to by the common name of mountain ash around the world. Us knowing which one will help. Trev |

Donna, if its european mtn-ash (Sorbus aucuparia), this species suffers in the excessive summer heat. Did you have a hot summer in Bend OR this year?

Mountain ash (not a true ash) are susceptible to bacterial fireblight.

Mountain ash (Sorbus americana) is also susceptible to "ash anthracnose" (Gnomoniella fraxini). Around here, it drops its leaves as early as mid July in drought years. |
