|  monterey cypress
I am wondering if there is any interesting history around the Monterey cypress trees. They were removed by P.G. & E about 2- 3 years ago. I cannot remember the reason behind it. But I had heard something about some rare salamanders that lived among them that were disturbed because of it. does this ring a bell for anyone. Just curious, because i have some of these cypress trees and wanted to know. I am in Auburn, Ca. Cisca |

Welcome to Treeworld! Are you looking for reasons to preserve the trees? Salamanders have been found by big tree climbers/measurers, in big hollows. This has led some to suggest some very harsh pruning just to create more habitat. I do not think they are endangered. have not heard of salamanders being host specific. |

the cypress was not pulled out from the Auburn area. It was pulled from Monterey. Its no big deal. just curious. Cisca |
