9 years ago I planted 5 maple trees (sugar maples) and at that time they were all very close in size (about 2 feet tall). Now, 1 of the 5 trees is approximately 16 feet tall, and the other 4 are about 3 feet tall. Any ideas on what could be wrong with the 4 trees and what can be done to correct the problem? I live in the east central portion of Michigan if this has any impact on this. Thanks |

A picture of where they were planted, and more details of how planted, whether they were B & B - or container or bareroot would help.

When planted the trees were bare root saplings. We dug the holes for the tress much larger than needed to ensure the soil around the roots was loose, then we put mulch on top of the ground to help hold the mositure in.
