maple leaf drop

mi 60 year old sugar maple has leaves turnig black and crinkly some are turning yellow and dropping inoticed this aweek ago after a heavy downpour and with athunderstorm. need to know the cause also should a norway maple growing very close to my sugar maples be cut down heard they destroy beneficial soil fungus true?

Pictures of the leaves would be a place to start.

What type of fertilizer have you used around the tree?
