I have a mango tree which has been planted here about three years ago. It has had a couple of fruit last year, and this year we have about six new ones that survived. At one time there were about 50 but the small ones all dropped off. Now the leaves of the lower branches are wilting, turning color and dropping. Any ideas to help?

what different has happened around the tree? ie weather hotter, colder, windier, building work digging ect, have you fed it? has the bark been strimmed off at the base, what are the leaves like? curled or discoloured any blight?

Need pics, they can be temperamental buggers at times. We had a stint on the Gold Coast where they dropped juvenile fruit for a few years ... even a Uni took on the case to find out, then after about 3 years they were all back to normal. Lots of rain at flower set didn't allow right polination was one theory, another was the bees didn't do their job, forget what the others were. Also look around the base, make sure there's no fruiting bodies or discoloured bark, got hammered here recently with fungal attacks.

Thanks for the info. We have had an unusually wet season - could this be the problem? The leaves all appear to be dying now. There is a split at the trunk of the tree which is spreading up about a foot from the ground and the bark is rotting at the split. We have taken the fruit from the tree now to not drain all of its 'power' and hopefully it will recover!

If bark is peeling off then likely fungal invasion, we really need pictures.
