Exclamation A little help?

Ekka i saw your vidoe clip of the resistograph. Now can you tell me is how much did you pay for that nifty tool ? And perhaps a place where you can buy them from like a online store. I spend a lot of time just looking at pics of them and no body can help me.

That was a demo in a park, I dont own it but you can buy them from here.

Resistograph :: IML,Inc.

Fujikura Europe | Speciality | Products | Decay Detection

There's a 300mm version or 500mm version. One idea is that if trees are OK to 30% wall thickness then you dont need to drill much further than that 30%.

So a 300mm deep hole into a 2000mm (2m) dia tree would suffice.

In my experience,though limited, the value of resistograph testing is questionable due to variation of readings from large hollows to severly decayed heartwood. I have seen trees condemned that could have remained for many years and trees deemed safe that have failed shortly thereafter. My opinion is resistograph is a useful tool, used in conjunction with educated and experienced Visual Tree Assessment, not a sole diagnostic tool or process in it's own right.
But I may be wrong!
