Default Lilac sprayed with weed killer

yesterday we sprayed our yard with scotts fertilizer plus weed control and it seems some of it got on our lilac bush, as this morning the leaves are starting to curl a little, i am worried it will kill it or if not kill it, ruin this years flowers as they are just about to open, anyone had problems with this before? and what should i do to help it?

You can only try to flush it out, lots of watering.

But that's about it, do not do this for days or it might drown too.

These weed killers are pretty efficient.

good news. with watering and hosing off it recovered. it has some curly leaves but it flowered and is growing new and normal leaves. that weed killer creates a fine mist that is hard to keep off of desirable plants. think i would rather have weeds then no trees. as it affected a couple other trees too

I just googled that stuff you used to see what was in it & was more than a little surprised that the US website doesn't have the active ingredients displayed, nor a MSDS attached!

I'm guessing the weed control element was most likely MCPA &/or Dicamba? If so, you are very lucky indeed to save the plant. A couple of years ago I got home to find the knucklehead next door spraying that Yates "weed & feed" crap along the Kikuyu growing up his fence line. It did nothing to kill the Kikuyu (I did that leaning over the fence later & spraying it with glypho!), but the over spray killed half of the plants in my yard. I hosed my plants down straight away, but within days, a huge chunk of my yard looked like it had been napalmed! I have no idea how long he'd been spraying before I got home, but he was in no doubt about how I felt about it!
